About Us
Built on Quality. Driven by Excellence.
Black Mountain Epoxy Floors didn’t start as a separate business chasing a trend. It started as a natural next step for a company that was already in people’s homes and garages every day.
For years, Black Mountain Painting has been doing residential and commercial painting work throughout Spearfish and the Black Hills. Somewhere along the way, customers started asking a version of the same question: “Since you’re already here — could you do something with this garage floor too?” Enough people asked that it stopped being a side request and became its own business. That’s how Black Mountain Epoxy Floors got its start, and it’s why we’ve now been installing epoxy garage floors for more than 10 years.
Today, Black Mountain Epoxy Floors operates alongside Black Mountain Painting under Black Mountain Enterprises, but we’re not a franchise or a corporate rollup pretending to be local. We’re a Spearfish-based crew that grew out of another Spearfish-based crew, and that history shapes how we still run every job today — show up, do the work right, and don’t leave until the customer is actually happy with it.
Why We Take Epoxy Flooring Seriously
Painting and floor coatings aren’t the same trade, but they share the same non-negotiable: prep work is everything. A paint job fails when someone skips priming or rushes a second coat. An epoxy floor fails the exact same way — when someone skips proper surface grinding or rushes the cure between coats to save a day.
That’s the standard we brought with us when we started coating floors, and it’s the same standard we hold today. We use a commercial-grade Sherwin-Williams coating system and professional Niagara Machine surface prep equipment, and we let every floor cure the full amount of time it needs — even when that means a two-day job instead of a rushed one-day job. It’s a slower way to work. It’s also why floors we installed years ago are still holding up.
Who We Are Now
We’re still based in Spearfish, South Dakota, and the Black Hills region is still home base for most of our work. But over the past decade, word has traveled further than we expected, and we now take on residential and commercial epoxy projects across the country when the job calls for it.
Whether it’s a single-car garage down the street or a commercial floor several states away, the crew showing up is the same one that’s been doing this work locally for over 10 years — not a subcontractor, not a franchise crew flown in for the week.
Part of Something Bigger
Black Mountain Epoxy Floors is one part of Black Mountain Enterprises, alongside our sister company Black Mountain Painting. If you need both a floor and a fresh coat of paint, you’re already talking to the right people — it’s the same company philosophy, just two different trades.
